Journey to the Half - Week 8

Well, week 8 has come and gone and with it a share of ups and downs.

I ran four times through the week, but all of my training days were off and I missed my long run day. I'll get into that in a minute. Each of my runs were adequate. I pushed myself moderately well, and I can still feel improvement in my form and physical condition. I have noticed my knees are a bit sore now, so I need to keep an eye on that.

I missed my long run this week due to some stomach issues I developed Thursday. I would just cramp up for no reason and generally just felt "blah" all over. So I took Thursday and Friday off. Saturday, which is my normal long run day, I only ran 3.60 miles instead of the scheduled 6.50 miles, because I was still feeling a little puny. Also, the weather was not cooperating. It rained off and on all weekend.

Last week was a prime example of my main goal: to get in shape and stay healthy. I believe if I had pushed through the stomach issue, I would have made things worse and lost even more training days. So, I suppose mission accomplished last week despite not fully hitting my training goals for the week.

This week I look to get back on track with my Tuesday night run. At the end of the week I'll be traveling with my wife to cheer her on as she runs in the Williams Route 66 Half Marathon in Tulsa, OK. If any of our fans are in the area, look for me and say hello!
